Objectives
The purpose of the workshop is to provide chemical laboratory leaders from academia and small-to-medium industries an opportunity to review and strengthen their chemical supply chains. The overall goal of the workshop is to work with participants to identify mechanisms to strengthen and improve supply chain reputability and reliability. The workshop will target the following specific objectives related to this goal:
- Review current knowledge and best practices in purchasing and the transportation of such purchased chemicals;
- Identify existing strengths and gaps in supply chain reputability and reliability among participating facilities; and
- Develop a data collection tool for facilities and institutions to better understand vulnerabilities.
Course Description
The 3-day workshop will include such topics on chemical supply chain and Supplier best practices. Responsibilities of each steps on the chemical supply chain. The Chemical Distribution System and Its Focus on Supply Chain, Supply Chain Reputability & Reliability Best Practices, Case Studies, and Current Data Systems, Fundamentals of Chemical Inventory Management Systems (CIMS), Overview of CIMS tool, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Overview of Chemical Procurement Best Practices, Overview of Chemical Receiving Best Practices, chemical market and global policy for interacting with stakeholders. Through a scenario-based table-top exercise participant will identify strengths and gaps their current chemical supply chain systems.

Targeted audience: This opportunity is open only to small business, Academia and government, especially departments who are in charge with purchasing and approving the order of the chemicals (procurement officers).
