Introduction: The Somali Chemical Society (SCS) have organized a 3-day workshop on chemical Waste Management workshop. The overall goal of the workshop was to emphasize the effective ways of managing chemical wastes in both industry and other sectors in Somalia. After the workshop, participants have had an understanding of chemical waste management and health problems issues, and how they affect the chemical activities in the country. All participants become aware of SCS programs, tools, and opportunities and addressed different issues that is related to the chemical waste management and they be able to establish collaboration with SCS team.
During the workshop the participants showed a positive cooperation and effective understanding about what waste management is, why it is important for environmental health, and how to implement best chemical waste management practices. And also various regulatory requirements that is related to Laboratories as well as they provided their options for on-site management and off-site disposal. The training were carriedout experienced trainers from the SCS and lead the workshop and emphasized the fundamental concepts of waste management as they related to health.
