The Department of Chemical Sciences and Technology (DCST) of ATLAS UNIVERSITY, in collaboration with the Somali Chemical Society (SCS) was conducted a training workshop for technicians on Chemical Lab Management from 18-19 March, 2017.
The workshop was officially opened by the general Sectary of Somali Chemical Society(SCS) Eng, Abdullahi Mahmoud Ali on behalf of the SCS chairman Mr.Abdolahi Mohamed Adawe who was busy another commitment.
The Two day Chemical Safety and security Laboratory workshop was conducted for the students and Lab technician Across the City which been focused on how essential and prominent it is to maintain chemical Safety and Security for the people involve Chemicals, This training was involve lectures, group discussion, group presentations, activities and exercises. And was held in Atlas University Banadir Campus Mogadishu Somalia.
The Lectures were:
1:Pro:Mohamed Kasim Awowe > Lecture at University of Somalia
2:Abdullahi Shiek Dahir > Zamzam Foundition
3:Mr Sayid Ali > Lecture from Somali National University
The objectives of training are as follows:
- To Provide tools and strategies to enhance chemical security and safety principles for technicians and Students.
- To Encourage the creation of a network of trainers to build upon current chemical security and safety programs through Somali Chemical Society; and Train (Senior technicians and Students) to propagate the knowledge and practice forward.
- To exchange ideas on the best practices of chemical on Chemical Safety and Security.
Eng, Abdullahi Mohamoud Ali thanked The Members of SCS who were Running the Program (the Lectures)as well Atlas University for hosting the workshop and inviting participants from academic sector to enhance the use of chemicals in proper way and thereby allows the participants to reduce the risk associated from chemicals used as well the University Administration Panel also encouraged SOMALI CHEMICAL SOCIETY to continue such fruitful program and demanded much more such Important training .
After the Workshop end Successfully Somali Chemical Society Give all the Participants a certificate of Participation and Pre-survey and Post-survey was collected also as point of reference .
A word of closing remark was said Eng Abdullahi Mohamoud Ali, as all participants seemed to be very happy and a laughter of joy was heard from corners and the Workshop k ended smoothly as per scheduled.
