Somali Chemical Society (SCS) organized a home training Workshop on chemical health and safety, the workshop hosted by Juba University for science and technology, main campus from 22-24 August 2017 in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Welcome remarks were made by Mr. Abdolahi Mohamed Adawe, Chairperson of SCS. He welcomed the participants, gave a brief history of SCS. Mr. Abdolahi further informed the workshop that after the finishing the workshop, there will be a positive outcome that reflect the knowledge gained from the workshop and will increase the contributionof spreading the understandingof chemical safety and security in the country.
The deputy president of academic affair of Juba University for science and technologyProf. Omer Sidow Zuber opened the workshop. He appreciated the support of SCS in strengthening chemical safety and security through capacity building. He also mentioned that SCS had conducted a range of training in the country and facilitated outside training to open Somali scientist the international window and equip advanced science in chemistry. He hoped that the workshop will come up with fruitful reflections for the field, and declared that workshop is officially opened.
The participants were drawn from SCS staff, Juba University for science and technology, Plasma University and private business laboratory sectors, the objective of this workshop were to increase the understanding of the participants from the various sectors on Chemical health and safety and enhance the use of chemicals in proper way when they are dealing with chemicals and be able to manage riskassociated from these chemicals.
The total beneficiaries of this program were 51 participants; expert from Somali Chemical Society conducted the training and shared their experience with the participants during the workshop,
